Dr. Ren earned his Ph.D. from University of Alberta, Canada, in physiology, following his medical training in China (Beijing University and Peking Union Medical College). Following a 22-year tenure as a professor in various universities in US (University of North Dakota, University of Wyoming and University of Washington), he serves as a professor in Dept of Cardiology at Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University. His major area of research is related to cardiovascular pathophysiology in alcoholism, diabetes, obesity and aging. He has authored more than 700 peer-reviewed papers (H index=117) and is a Clarivate highly cited scholar for the past few years.
